Our Team & Certifications

The people who answer your call and manage your restoration hold IICRC certifications in water, fire, mould and trauma work, along with asbestos, healthcare construction and estimating credentials. Here is a summary of who they are and what they are trained to do.

IICRC-Certified Restoration Professionals in Calgary

Restoration is skilled work. Drying a basement properly, removing mould without spreading it and cleaning up after a trauma scene all depend on training, not guesswork. That is why DKI Calgary makes continuing education a priority, and why our project managers hold certifications from the IICRC, the certification body for the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry.

Our team brings field experience as well as certificates. Our President & CEO started his career as an insurance adjuster, several project managers worked their way up from technician, and others came to restoration after years as general contractors, home builders and carpenters. You can read their full stories on our About DKI Calgary page.

The Standards and Safety Programs Behind Our Work

IICRC certifications are built on published industry standards. S500 sets out how water damage is categorized, dried and verified, S520 covers mould remediation, S700 covers fire and smoke damage, and S540 covers trauma and crime scene cleanup. Because our certifications are built on these standards, the work on your property follows a recognized method that your insurer and adjuster can review.

Safety rules matter just as much. Asbestos work in Alberta is governed by Part 4 of the Alberta OHS Code, and our project managers include people certified in asbestos abatement and remediation for our asbestos testing and abatement work. Our dedicated Health & Safety officer runs risk assessments and makes sure our COR (Certificate of Recognition) requirements are met, and one of our project managers maintains Leadership for Safety Excellence training through the Alberta Construction Safety Association.

Standards and programs our work follows:

N

IICRC S500 for water damage restoration

Are your technicians IICRC certified?

Yes. Several team members hold IICRC Master certifications in Water, Fire & Smoke and Textile restoration. We also teach CEC training courses for insurance and property professionals.

What is the IICRC?

The IICRC is the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification. It publishes standards for the restoration industry, including S500 for water damage and S520 for mould remediation, and certifies technicians who complete approved courses and exams. The IICRC does not run its own schools; it approves schools, instructors and continuing education courses. DKI Calgary is a long-standing member of the IICRC and the Restoration Industry Association.

Who will manage my restoration project?

A dedicated project manager is assigned to your claim from start to finish. They coordinate the crew, keep you updated, work with your insurance adjuster and keep the documentation in order. Depending on the loss, your project manager may come from our residential, property management or commercial and complex team. You can read each person’s full background on our About DKI Calgary page.

Is your team certified for asbestos removal?

Our project managers include people certified in asbestos abatement and asbestos remediation.
